I know that This is a gaming blog and no I'm not a nerd I don't like reading but when a book is good I'll read it and enjoy it. I enjoyed Ralph Fletcher because he writes so simple that anyone who can read will understand his books. Even though he writes simple he uses professional writing strategies. Here's 3 sentences I liked from one of his books
In school we wrote in pencil so putting inked words on a piece of paper made me feel like a grown up.
Many summer nights we played baseball for hours until finally mom yelled " It's too dark."
He was a really good baby and a terrific brother.
Good job Icaac! You did a really good job on this week's assignment. I discovered you put 3 dialogues in your sentences that was really good. One way that you could improve this piece is to write about why you like each of those sentences. Overall, you at did a excellent job and I look forward to reading more about to reading about this!
ReplyDeleteIt is not appropriate to post a statement such as, "I know that This is a gaming blog and no I'm not a nerd I don't like reading but when a book is good I'll read it and enjoy it." I know that you eventually get to the point in this post about Fletcher's writing style, however, you insult any reader who enjoys reading by first calling them nerds. Remember our discussion in class about being sensitive to our audience regarding sensitive topics. For example, if someone I knew had a husband that was sick with cancer, when I spoke to her, I wouldn't say, "When do you think he is going to die?" That would be an awful thing to say to someone that is looking for hope. While that is an extreme analogy compared to your comment, it does go back to the same idea of being sensitive to the feeling of your audience. I, as a person who does read, did take offense to that comment about being a nerd. I am sure that your posts in the future will refrain from using such types of derogatory statements.
